The Fine Art of Latte

The translation of Café Latte from Italian to English is simply a ‘coffee with milk.’ In actuality, there is much more to making an amazing latte. There is an art to achieving the rich flavors that warm you from the inside and it begins with the basics. Quality espresso beans, syrups and steamed milk with skillfully created foam are all essential to a delicious latte.

To begin, we chill our metal pitchers and make sure we use cold milk. This enhances the frothy, airy feel and helps create the best foam. After chilling the pitcher, we fill it 2/3 of the way with cold milk and put a thermometer in. We then lower the steam wand just below the surface of the milk at a diagonal and create some froth. We then lower the steam wand further into the milk and let it heat while preparing an espresso shot. (*We allow the milk to heat to no more than 155 degrees Fahrenheit)

After preparing your espresso shot and heating your milk, we use a spoon to hold the foam to the side and allow the milk to pour into your latte mug. After pouring the heated milk into the cup, we add your espresso shot and any flavorings you’ve requested and then spoon the foam over the top of the cup.

If this has made you crave a latte, come on by and treat yourself.
